Getting started.

From an empty workspace to a first branded report: create a client, add eye photographs, let detection find the geometry, and place your first findings.

The workspace

After signing in you land on the Home tab. The sidebar on the left switches between the workspace views:

ViewWhat it's for
RecentsClients you viewed last, with their iris thumbnails and a search box. This is the default view.
ClientsThe full client list — plus a Pending tab where intake submissions wait for you to Accept them.
WhatsAppThe clinic's WhatsApp inbox. Appears when the integration is enabled for your clinic.
ClinicClinic settings — general details, team members, the intake form, payments and billing.
TrashDeleted clients, kept for 30 days with a countdown. Restore them, or delete forever.
SettingsPersonal preferences — image storage mode, language, appearance, detection and advanced options.

Pinned at the bottom of the sidebar is the storage meter — how much of the clinic's quota your images and files use. Clicking it opens the storage breakdown.

Along the top of the window run the tabs: Home, a + tab for adding clients, and one tab per open client — each client tab holds its own canvas, and open tabs are restored next time you launch.

Create a client

  1. Click the + tab.
  2. Enter a name — only the name is required; family name, birthday, gender, phone and email are optional and can be completed later.
  3. Click Add. The client's canvas tab opens on today's visit, ready for images.

A client's details live in the profile drawer (open it from the client card), with tabs for General, Files — a per-client document drive — Intake and Customize.

If your clinic uses the patient intake form, submissions arrive in ClientsPending; accepting one creates the client with the whole questionnaire, consents and signatures attached.

Add eye images

Drag photographs anywhere onto the client's canvas, or use Browse for more images in the side panel. Each image becomes a board, and the canvas needs to know two things about every board:

  • Eye side — left or right.
  • Eye type — what kind of photograph it is: a straight-ahead iris photo, one of the four sclera gazes, a collarette closeup or an inner-pupillary-border (IPB) closeup.

Both are set in the Eye tab of the side panel (with Bulk Eye Info Edit for many boards at once, and Reorder by eye side/type to tidy the board layout). The eye type is not just a label — it decides which models are available on that board.

Auto-detection

Every image you add is analysed on upload: CosmicIris finds three circles — the iris, the collarette and the pupil — and every map, clock and dial is drawn against them. You can re-run detection on a board with the magic-wand Auto-detect maps button in the toolbar, or nudge any circle by hand when a photograph defeats it.

Detection locking onto the iris, collarette and pupil.

Find your way around the canvas

Three areas do almost all the work:

  • The toolbar — zoom and hand tools, auto-detect, and the view switch: the row of model buttons (for an iris photo: Classic · Time Risk · Hide Maps, plus the Pro-plan models on Pro clinics). Switching view changes what the overlays mean — see Working with models.
  • The side panel — vertical tabs on the right: Eye (side & type), Color (brightness, contrast, saturation, clarity and more, per image), Signs (the marking list) and Layers (map overlays). Model views add their own tabs — Time Risk adds Add Trauma, Space Risk adds its space checklists, and so on.
  • The client card — top left: the client's name and visit, the pencil that opens visit notes and the document icon that generates the report.

In the Layers tab, toggle the map overlays for the current view and hover any zone on the image to read its organ — when zones overlap, the tooltip names the smallest, most specific one.

To place a finding, click the image where you see it, pick signs from the catalogue that opens, and Add. Each model page documents its own catalogue — start with Classic.

Notes and reports

The pencil on the client card opens the visit notes — a rich-text editor saved per visit (Ctrl+Enter saves). Notes are included in the report, and each marking can carry its own note too.

The document icon generates the client report — a branded PDF that compiles the eye images, the evaluation, findings and recommendations from every model you worked in, plus the visit notes. Each model page describes what it contributes. The report language follows the client's setting, then the clinic's, then the app's — so an Italian-speaking client of a Hebrew-speaking clinic gets an Italian report.

Keyboard & power features

  • Ctrl/Cmd+K opens the actions palette — search and run commands such as Detect iris, collarette and pupil maps on every undetected eye image, Remove all markings (undoable for five seconds) or Open in desktop app.
  • The desktop app adds native tab shortcuts — Ctrl+T for a new tab, Ctrl+PgDn/PgUp to cycle tabs — and any session can hand off to it via Open in desktop app.
  • Everything saves as you work. Analyses sync across your devices and to teammates on the same client; offline changes catch up when the connection returns.

CosmicIris surfaces signs and supports the practitioner's analysis — it does not diagnose disease or replace clinical judgement.
